Membership

Updated: March 24. 2009 by NH

We welcome new members in all the groups. There is no obligation if you want to join us for a couple of rehearsals to see what we're like. Members range in age from high school to seniors.

Registration is generally taken in the fall so check out our News page to see if the next registration date has been posted. If not, please click the "Email Us" button and we'll process your registration that way.

What if I don't have an instrument?

We have a few 'loaner' instruments. Also, we may be able to help with costs to rent instruments, particularly for those who play instruments whose cost is prohibitive.

What if I am a beginner or haven't played for a long time?

I'd love to join but ...

The Valley Winds Music Association wants to make its programs accessible to all those who are interested and tries hard to remove barriers to participation. We recognize that there are many people in the BowValley who lack the resources even for our modest fees. With this in mind, we have established a bursary fund to assist with rehearsal fees when there is a financial need. If you or you know of someone who would like to join us but needs assistance, download and complete the Bursary Application Form.

Everyone is welcome to join the Choir. In the bands, most members have had a long gap between learning and picking up the instruments again. It usually isn't a problem - and we all know how it feels!

We do not have a beginner band, but there is one in Cochrane (80 km east of Canmore).

Contact us if you would be interested in being part of a new beginner band.

I live in Banff and practices are in Canmore, can I car pool with someone?

Members who reside in Banff have successfully organized car pools for each group. Let us know if you'd like to join a car pool and we'll make sure you can contact each other.
