Concert Band Directors

Returning for their third season with the Valley Winds, Jay and Andrea are husband and wife, and will be handling the director's position as a team.  Jay plays trumpet with the Foothills Brass, has a Bachelors Degree in Music Education and a Masters in Music Performance.  He is Brass Coordinator with the Calgary Stampede Showband, and Music Director of the Calgary Stetson Showband.  A woodwind specialist, Andrea also has degrees in Music Performance and Education.  She is Music Director of the Calgary Stampede Showband, and Clarinet Choir Director of the Calgary Stetson Showband.  Andrea also has a teaching position with the Calgary Separate School District.

With their experience with bands of all levels, past experience with community bands, and demonstrated skill at working as a team with Stampede and Stetson bands, we're all very excited about the upcoming season.  We look forward to learning a great deal from Jay and Andrea.

Concert Band

Our Concert Band's repertoire includes everything from marches, folk songs and movie medleys to modern original compositions at the Grade 3/4 level. Lower register instruments and those interested in percussion are especially welcome.

The Concert Band is looking to grow significantly in size and would welcome new members in any section. At the moment, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, anything low (bassoon, tuba, bass clarinet, etc.), or high for that matter, like oboe and piccolo, would bring a smile to Jay and Andrea's faces.
